I recently had the opportunity to attend the Toronto Triathlon Festival in July. Canadian Sports Insurance Brokers was a major sponsor of the event. Our CSIB team got a chance to know each other quite well over these 4 days and away from the office I found out how passionate this small group of Sports Risk Advisors (our fancy term for Brokers) was for what we were trying to accomplish at the event and with CSIB.
The TTF Expo allowed us to ask questions and find out about the challenges these amateur athlete face as well as the passion they have for participating in their sport. Whether they were 17 or 72, they all had determination and a desire to push themselves to succeed. I didn't understand what type of motivation it took to put yourself through these paces until race day. There were people of all ages, sizes and shapes competing for something more than I could imagine. The exhileration I felt in passing out water to the athlete as they ran by me, hoping they would grab my cup was overwhelming. The adrenaline that came watching a passerby encouraging the athletes to push themselves to keep going and not to give up.
I look at my CSIB team and I cam make a comparison between those athletes and us. We are determined to succeed, to push ourselves to break new ground when others may have given up. I have to remind myself daily that these individuals are moving forward my dreams of creating an Insurance Brokerage that specializes in providing more than just insurance. A Sports Risk Management organization that works with sport groups and athletes and advises on the types of risks they face and how to mitigate those risks through risk management and insurance solutions.
We are a determined group who are not unlike a triathlete wanting to run faster or swim harder the next time. We will succeed because we have each other. I am proud to be part of Canadian Sports Insurance Brokers. We may have 40 km of cycling left but we are going to do it through hard work, commitment and dedication not only to each other but to our customers as well.
